I Just ❤️ This City More and More

We had an absolute incredible week. There is no other words to describe it. I have felt so blessed to be able to come here and learn so much. It has been so wonderful to be here in Barcelona, the heart of this mission, and learn from the leaders around me. Literally everyday is so full of fun things and random adventures. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Before I get to the good stuff wanted to give a quick update on the stick driving. I have improved dramatically in the span of a week. Now it feels a lot more natural. It is way more fun than normal driving. There is just so much more involvement. So that is how that´s going.

This week we had the opportunity to have zone conference this week. We listened to incredible messages from the older missionaries, and I loved it. I was able to see Elder Christensen and Elder Dunn again (two of my favorite companions)!! Elder Dunn, Elder Jones (my companion now), and Elder Hemeyer are all going home this Tuesday which is super sad. The good thing is that I now we will hang out again. It´s just sad to see that I won´t see them again for a time. They are all such good missionaries.

This week was also an incredible time for miracles. Here in the office we spend our time in the morning doing office work, and then at about 5:30 we go out and do missionary work. We don´t have a lot of time, and so when we are outside we work as hard as possible. We run up the stairs, talk to everyone, and love every second of it. It makes us really appreciate the time we have. The Lord has blessed us so much. We have found lots of new people, and a few families that we will be meeting with this next week. It is such a blessing to be a part of this work. The happiness that comes is real. I love it. I am such a changed person because of it. I am so happy, and I love the opportunity to be changed. I didn´t realize how much I had to learn before, but in this short time I have learned that I am nothing without my Savior, and that He makes me into who He needs me to be.

Time flys here. Between transfers, late-night airport runs, early mornings, stressful scheduling, and crazy adventures... I am having an absolute blast! I love it. I invite you to look and see if this is something that can bless you, because I am 100% sure it will. The Book of Mormon is true. Plain and simple.

Love you all. Go out there and get it.

Barcelona... My City

People, you would not believe how amazing it is here. To think that I have the opportunity to serve here as a missionary is absolutely incredible. There are now words to describe the energy of this city. I LOVE IT!!! We see people from so many countries every single day. This first week has been an incredible experience.

Soooooo... despite all the hype there are some downsides. That downside is named stick shifting. Look, before the mission I considered myself a decent driver. I didn´t have too many problems, and I felt confident that I could drive well. Then I tried to learn how to drive stick. I wasn´t bad, but I also wasn´t a natural. I have stalled the car 100000000 times. In between parking, red lights, hills, pedestrians, bikers, jay-walkers, then with a car that you have to balance three pedals and the speed...... it all just combines to make driving one big challenge. Let me tell you, there´s nothing like being served a big slice of humble pie. However, after careful diligence I have learned to overcome the challenges and continue on. I can now navigate the bus lane going a breezy 15 miles per hour. The important thing is that I am officially more humble than I was before.

Our investigator pool is a little small because we only have about four hours to be outside talking to people. That has been an interesting change, but it has been easier than I thought it was going to be. The office is always stressful coordinating everything in the whole mission. I didn´t realize how much work we actually do, but we literally coordinate all of President Dayton´s schedule, and just about everyone else as well. It is a blast talking to all the missionaries in the mission,  and I am learning so much every single day. I will for sure be a pro, so if you know anyone in the future who needs a male secretary, been there, done that. I would most definitely recommend myself. Hahaha

THIS preparation day we went to the most epic views of Barcelona called Park Guell. When you look up Barcelona, all the pictures you see come from there. That was super fun.

Keep enjoying life people. Work hard, play hard!

Presenting Your Newest and Truest SECRETARY

OH WOW! So I received by far the craziest news of my mission last Saturday morning. As we were preparing to go out for the day I received a call from our Mission President. He then proceeded to ask me to be the new Secretary of the mission.  I was absolutely blown away. I then had to pack my bags, and the next day I left the beloved Castell√≥n to come to the giant city of Barcelona. I arrived and immediately got to work, learning about all the different things that I would be responsible over for the mission. For example, I coordinate all the travel for the missionaries, transfers, meetings, and a whole lot of other random stuff. I will be here for a little over 6 months. I am super excited, because I will get to know President and Sister Dayton really well. The other Elders here are also a ton of fun. It is a massive change from being a normal missionary, so I am excited to mix things up.

On Saturday and Sunday Elder Jones and I spent the day running around the city trying to say goodbye to all the dear friends I have made in Castell√≥n. It was hard saying goodbye, but I know that one day I am going back!

This time here in Barcelona has been crazy as well. In this time I have learned a ton, including how to drive stick! Never thought I would learn that in the mission. We spend the day running errands and doing the things that are necessary so that other missionaries can get their jobs done.

So the new preparation day is normally a Wednesday. Today we went to go see the Camp Nou, the giant Barcelona stadium. It was an absolute blast. Soccer isn´t a sport here, it is a religion. People really, really love this sport. It´s the lives of these people. Every night there is a big game and someone scores you can hear everybody yelling  and cheering from their apartments. Gotta love the Spain atmosphere.

Live is good. Big changes, but good changes. I am enjoying every second of this mission. I absolutely love it, almost as much as I love you! Take care
